I enjoyed this post knowing about ur 'previous' ideas about all these social/web2 stuff. I am a web worker too, though not as experienced as you, and you know i also kind of share the same sentiments, like i have a twitter account but i seriously feel its information overload. Same for many other social networking sites i have user IDs for but seldom use.

I am retweeting anything i just came to know , posting(vomiting) anything i know on a main blog, then self-digging, self-stumbling & shortening the url to update it on half a dozen micro-blogs/life streams brings in a lots attention & business, but i am so far enjoying my lazy life of just using google reader & commenting personally on random pages that i find like yours. I think i came from a CSS gallery.
Good day.
